In addition to assuring food safety, the diligent promotion of the Kaohsiung City Government has also been beneficial in boosting the quality and sales in high quality local agricultural products. The sales number at the Foodex Japan last year was 35 million NTD. And the appreciation of Japanese Yen is expected to stimulate sales at this year’s Foodex Japan. The Kaohsiung City Government is confident that the sales at Foodex will rise by 15% this year, grossing over 80 million NTD.

During her interview at the Kaohsiung Product Store, Mayor Chen Chu said that Kaohsiung is a major granary of Taiwan, and all the products in this exhibition are Kaohsiung’s premium selections. Aside from the ever-popular tea and fruits, this year cryogenic foods such as Kaohsiung seafood, frozen foods, dried fruits, enzyme products have also joined Foodex Japan. This not only shows how much the Japanese market is valued, the government also hopes to introduce Kaohsiung’s local high quality agricultural products to international buyers through Foodex Japan, one of the top three international expositions.
