(HIMSS Booth #4435) – Orion Health™, a population health management and healthcare integration company, today announced that its client, Scottsdale Health Partners (SHP), a physician-led Clinical Integration Network (CIN) and Accountable Care Organization (ACO), has fully implemented and gone live with its Healthier Populations Open Platform solution and has trained over 300 physicians and 800 clinical support staff on the technology to date. The Orion Health Open Platform provides all the elements necessary to run a successful, secure, open, interoperable and scalable health information exchange (HIE). Orion Health also announced today that it is working with the SHP senior leadership team to further refine its Care Coordinate product to address pressing industry challenges.

SHP is a 50/50 joint venture between HonorHealth and the Scottsdale Physician Organization that was established to create a network with a full-service health system and physicians that represent the spectrum of medical specialties, most of whom own independent, entrepreneurial practices in the area. In June 2014, the organization implemented Orion Health’s complete Healthier Populations solution suite, which includes the Open Platform, Orion Health Rhapsody® Integration Engine and Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI).

After an eight month implementation of SHP CareConnect (SHP’s brand name for Orion’s HIE), the first major indicator of the roll-out’s success was the wide-spread clinician adoption, with over 1,000 clinical team members on-boarded to date. “Over the past few years, providers have been inundated with so many new technologies that it is difficult to learn each new technology and then actually adopt it in their day to day workflow. But because this solution is so clinician-friendly, users were up and running immediately after training, enabling both workflow improvement and enhanced communication efforts right away,” said Faron Thompson, Chief Operating Officer, Scottsdale Health Partners.

Along with their successful implementation of SHP CareConnect, SHP has achieved other successes since the company was launched in July, 2012. SHP now manages over 35,000 patients represented from six different insurance payers. SHP is improving the quality of patient care, reducing hospital admissions and readmissions, coordinating care for patients among all the various care team members, and lowering healthcare costs. For two of SHP’s longest standing contracts, SHP has lowered healthcare costs by 10% in one year.
