DUBLIN

Research and Markets announced today that it will donate €50,000 to support the efforts of UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières, both of which are already on the ground in Nepal – providing vital support to those affected by the disaster.

Research and Markets CEO, Ross Glover said, “It has been heartbreaking to watch the tragedy in Nepal unfold from afar. UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières are two organisations with a long history working in Nepal and with extensive experience bringing aid to those most in need. Research and Markets and all our employees are committed to supporting them as they work to bring relief on the ground in Nepal – particularly to the large number of children that are in desperate need right now.”

UNICEF promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything they do. Together with partners, they work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere. Peter Power, Executive Director, UNICEF, said, “The lives of so many children have been torn apart and they are in desperate need of life-saving support, including clean water, shelter and sanitation. Without a safe water supply, waterborne diseases remain huge risks for children. Many families are struggling simply to protect themselves from the sun and rain and we only expect needs to grow in the coming days as we receive more information from remoter areas and the full scale of the disaster becomes more apparent. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like Research and Markets UNICEF will be able to reach and protect more children across Nepal.”

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. For more information about MSF and its work visit: http://www.msf.ie.

“MSF is working to provide surgical and medical care to people affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. We treat our patients based on medical need alone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or politics. Thanks to generous supporters like Research and Markets, MSF can continue to do what we do best- respond rapidly and effectively to emergencies whenever and wherever they occur. ” said Jane-Ann McKenna, Director of Médecins Sans Frontières.
