Pre-operative Care

  • Don’t take over the counter pain cream relievers 2 weeks before the surgery .This includes common medicine products like Aspirin and Ibuprofen.
  • Do not smoke at least 2 weeks before the surgery.
  • Don’t take vitamin E and anti-coagulants 2 weeks before the surgery.
  • Make sure to tell your doctors about any medication you are taking and any problems you’ve had with previous operations.
  • Don’t eat and drink anything 8 hours before the surgery.

During the procedure:

  • Insert the arthroscope into the shoulder through a small incision. Inject the fluid to the shoulder to inflate the joint
  • Inspection of shoulder joints and tissues
  • Repair the damaged tissues, muscle tendon, or fix the cartilage and remove the damaged tissue.

Post-operative care

  • After surgery your doctor will prescribe pain medications
  • Do not drive for 2-4 weeks after surgery
  • Lifting of heavy objects and exercises should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.
  • Slight movement and exercises are recommended.
