BRISTOL, England

Data Sciences International, a biomedical research company and global leader in physiologic monitoring, has turned to international expansion expert Radius to help manage its growing operations in China. DSI, based in St. Paul, Minn., currently has offices in Shanghai and throughout Europe, serving customers in more than 40 countries worldwide.

“The repatriation of our country manager led us to take a closer look at how we were managing operations in China,” said Charlie Coggin, EVP and CFO at DSI. “We realized that it was time for operations to evolve to meet the challenges of a much larger, more complex business, and Radius’ experience in this market made them the partner of choice as we navigate this exciting period of new growth.”

DSI designs and manufactures laboratory instrumentation and software to research scientists around the world, including China, where the market is exploding. Earlier this year, the New England Journal of Medicine reported that between 2007 and 2013, Chinese investments in biomedical research and development increased by 33 percent. Radius will work closely with DSI’s finance and HR teams to develop and implement its future expansion strategies.

“DSI recently celebrated its 30th year as a biomedical research industry leader, and their accomplishments in key global markets in Europe and elsewhere is impressive,” said John Clancy, president of Radius. “The company is the undisputed gold standard for preclinical physiologic monitoring, an exciting area of medical research, and we’re honored to partner with them as they continue to push boundaries both scientifically and internationally.”
