LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.

Toshiba is making it possible for clinicians to use ultrasound to see the smallest vessels in and around areas like tumors and lymph nodes, giving them a new way to diagnose disease faster and non-invasively.

Currently, physicians wanting to see low-velocity microvascular blood flow have to use contrast agents or more invasive modalities. Superb Micro-Vascular Imaging (SMI) can dramatically improve the patient’s overall imaging experience by making exams safer and faster, getting them the diagnostic information needed.

SMI has received FDA clearance for use on the Aplio™ 500 ultrasound system and will be showcased at the Society of Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) Annual Conference, August 6–9, 2014 (Booth #214) in Lake Buena Vista, Fl.

“Toshiba ultrasound continues to push the envelope,” said Tomohiro Hasegawa, director, Ultrasound Business Unit. “With the development of SMI, clinicians can provide the right diagnosis on all patients earlier for improved care. Additionally, SMI expands the utility of ultrasound, which results in fewer ionizing procedures, improving patient safety.”

Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology recognized SMI as Editor’s Choice of Most Innovative Technology at ASE 2014: http://www.dicardiology.net/view-all/videos/?bclid=922766709001&bctid=3657051609001.
